Mabon – the harvest god

I was browsing the net and came upon this site with a reference to the Celtic god – Mabon. As it was in Swedish I decided to google it some more – and came up with this:

“Mabon is the Autumn Equinox and the second of the harvest festivals. Some various other names for this Lesser Wiccan Sabbat are: The Second Harvest Festival, Wine Harvest, Feast of Avalon, Equinozio di Autunno (Strega), Alben Elfed (Caledonii), or Cornucopia. The Teutonic name, Winter Finding, spans a period of time from the Sabbat to Oct. 15th, Winter’s Night, which is the Norse New Year.

Once again, the day and night are equal in length and we all take a moment to pay our respects to the impending dark. We also give thanks to the waning sunlight, as we store our harvest of this year’s crops.

The Druids called this celebration Mea’n Fo’mhair. It is to honor the the Green Man, the God of the Forest, by offering libations to trees. Offerings of ciders, wines, herbs and fertilizer are appropriate at this time. Wiccans celebrate the aging Goddess as she passes from Mother to Crone, and her consort the God as he prepares for death and re-birth.

At this festival it is appropriate to wear all of your finery and dine and celebrate in a lavish setting. It is the drawing to and of family as we prepare for the winding down of the year at Samhain.

Mabon is a time to finish old business as we ready for a period of rest, relaxation, and reflection. This is also time to give thanks for the year and a time to look at the consequences of our actions, then let them go. It is time to set ourselves new goals.” Source: The Pagan Journey

It feels good to know a little bit more about our family name!

DIY chrochet basket

Found a really simple description of mini baskets here. Made four so far.
Will probably make more.
Now wondering if Evelina has started crocheting from her yarn yet?
A few pics of the masterpieces below:

Oh, and in true Lakshmi spirit – must show off my new blue glittery shoes that go so well with my turmaline ring and the new nail polish.

Over and out from the crafting-lady….

In seach of the famous fjords…

…we found a waterfall.

We drove for approx 3 hrs. From Haugesund to Ölen, to Utböya and then road 47 back to Haugesund. Saw a few high mountais with snow on top. A few minor waterfalls, gravel, sheep, moss, tiny roads, white houses, etc, etc. Next time maybe a bit more prepared?

But hey, Norway is treating us great anyway 😉

I have accepted a job offer. Scary. I had started planning for being my own and start my own company. And then this morning my future boss sold the position to me. Just like that. And I said – yes, I´d like to take on this challenge and journey.

Who knows today if it it the right choice in the end. But I feel that this chance was there for me to take. My own company? That can still be made on the side. Nothing that will keep me from being my own in the future.

Wish me luck!

Bye bye Skolporten, colleagues, work, employment and co-ownership!

Yes, it is that day – my first day of no work at Skolporten where I have spent the last 7yrs and 9 months. They say it takes 7 yrs for all the cells in your body to be renewed/replaced by a new cell, so this is a good time to leave and meet a new future. A very undiscovered future – as I quit without having a new job yet.

It has been an awesome trip and I wrote a little something about it here. I started out as a project coordinator and finished off as a co owner and CEO. So many colleagues that I will miss not working with – you guys are amazing! Keep it up!

What to do next? Well I don´t really know. Apart from the fact that I have received a few phone calls and booked a few lunches with possible business partners/employers in November. And I have also booked a beginners course for pottery which I am looking forward to. And in March I will take a course to be a certified coach.

Life cannot be better than it is today!
